Bolognese recipe
This authentic Bolognese sauce recipe brings the rich tradition of northern Italy into your kitchen. Traditionally Bolognese sauce is made with a combination of ground meat, including lean beef, but I prefer just using ground Beef. This slow-cooked meat sauce features San Marzano tomatoes, and a splash of red wine for depth. Simmered over low heat or in a slow cooker, the cooking process builds flavour slowly with onion mixture, bay leaf, and black pepper. Optionally add a parmesan rind or prosciutto scraps near the end of the cooking time. I skip the heavy cream in the final sauce, but you can add it for extra richness. Serve with fresh tagliatelle, dry pasta, lasagna noodles, or your favorite pasta. Leftovers store well in an airtight container, making this a perfect go-to recipe for meal prep or cozy nights. See the recipe card for a step-by-step guide.
